Sweet Potato “Tater Tots”

A healthier version of a classic tater tot. Using sweet potatoes, these tater tots are baked (not fried) and gluten free!

Pair with your favorite dipping sauce!

Key Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this recipe:

  • Sweet Potatoes

  • Cornstarch - Check that it is gluten-free.

  • Cajun Seasoning - Other seasoning options include: cinnamon and ginger; or garlic powder and oregano.

  • Avocado oil spray

  • Salt and pepper

How to Make

As always, this recipe is simple and easy to make, using whole ingredients. Here’s where to start:

First, wash and peel sweet potatoes. Once peeled, roughly chop the sweet potatoes.

Bring water to boil in a large dutch oven or stovetop saucepan. Add salt and chopped sweet potatoes to the boiling water. Boil until soft and tender. Check with a fork. Drain water and transfer cooked potatoes to a large mixing bowl.

Using a potato masher, mash potatoes in mixing bowl. Add cornstarch and seasonings.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

Once the potato mixture is mostly cooled, form tater tots using your hands. Take about two tablespoons of potato mixture and form a small log. Place on the sheet pan. Spray with avocado oil.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

It’s that easy! Enjoy!

How to Serve

Seve with your favorite dipping sauce! I like to make a quick honey mustard to go with these tater tots.
